As Lead Programme Manager at Badminton England, Julie manages a team of four who deliver projects and programmes to support the development of grassroots badminton. Alongside Safeguarding Manager, Victoria Brown, Julie is also responsible for A Sport That Cares—an initiative that sets minimum standards across our affiliated environments, with the aim of creating a safer sport for everyone.
Julie has worked in sports development since graduating from university (many years ago!) and has been with Badminton England since 2018. her experience spans all areas of the sport: representing England as a player, and currently coaching her own junior badminton club, and tutoring new coaches on Coach Education courses.
I feel incredibly fortunate to work in a sport that I love and that has given me so much. I am constantly inspired by the clubs, volunteers and coaches within our badminton community who create opportunities and make the sport thrive. If I can make even a small positive impact through my work, then it is truly worthwhile.
