In December 2025, Play Badminton Club hosted our first in-house Foundation Award (Level 1) in Badminton Coaching.
A number of our Club members, they spent the weekend learning, training and demonstrating badminton techniques and activities to use as coaches. We are thrilled that two of our junior members participated in the course, making it a rounded cohort.
We arranged this course with Badminton England and had the very experienced and talented Lesley Uphill as one of the tutors delivering it. Accompanying her was Ashish, who is training to be a tutor.
It was a full two days, and our members did well, they were enthusiastic, keen to learn and understand the different components which contribute to developing coaches. They interacted and engaged with each other and the tutors, alongside this, they really enjoyed it and had fun as they took part in the delivery of various activities and games. We look forward to the new Level 1 coaches joining our coaching sessions.
